So, following on from both Mr Gates and Mr Jobs' comments that "DRM doesn't work", Apple announced a groundbreaking deal with EMI yesterday that all of their tracks will be available in a higher bitrate, DRM-free version. All very good, even at their enhanced price, but doesn't it simply smell of the high and mighty actually admitting that the music industry is more fucked than they'll admit, and this climbdown shows that holding complete and utter contempt for your online customers isn't exactly the way to claw back loses due to the "P2P effect".
Be warned people: At the beginning of the year Music Blogs were described as "the future of music journalism". Just don't be too surprised if we're all shut down at some point in the future when we become "the biggest pirates since those guys that sell dodgy DVD's down the pub".
