In case you missed out the first time.

Right, it seems the whole "Hype Machine not indexing me" thing was my fault entirely, so below is something of a super mega post that will allow those peeps from Hype that missed to out to grab, but also another opportunity for you regulars to catch some stuff you may have missed. Grab 'em while they're hot kids:

From the post: Help Mel out

MP3 Moby - I love to move in here (Holy Ghost! Remix)

From the post: Face|Off

MP3 Fight Like Apes - Lend me your face

And just because I'm feeling light headed from flu, here's some other bits to keep you going. One being a Madlib remix of Madvillain (ie, a reinterpretation of his own stuff) and two great examples of the current Italo infatuation:

MP3 Madvillain - Running around with another (Madlib Remix)

MP3 Little Boots - Meddle

MP3 The Golden Filter - Solid Gold*

Lurgy.

I'm really rather ill. I've been struck down by a flu-like virus in quite possibly the worst week imaginable. I've also just found out that new tracks I post aren't being scanned by the Hype Machine, and I've no clue why. So here's an experiment. Please, if you arrive here from the Hype Machine, leave me a little comment or send me an email to help put my mind at rest. Thanks, now back to being ill I think.

MP3 Dr Octagon - Blue Flowers

Face|Off

I've often felt that, on occasion, it would be nice to wake up as someone really handsome. You know, it would be cool to wake up and find you'd turned into Thierry Henry, or George Clooney, and you could spend your day swanning around playing football or starring in movies for your hip director pals. Chirpy Irish 6Music playlisters Fight Like Apes seem to like the idea too, though they don't seem to keen on returning said face at the end of a loan period in anything like perfect condition. Check them out.

MP3 Fight Like Apes - Lend me your face

Night muzikken

You might have heard that Riton, the popular former Grand Central signee, electro don and one half of the mighty Gucci Soundsystem, is releasing an album of German influenced jams under the name Eine Kleine Nacht Musik on Modular. Not sure when it's due to drop (as it were), but I've not let pesky things such as release dates get in the way before. Here's a taster: It's better than you think it might be.

MP3 Eine Kleine Nacht Musik - La Serenissima

PS - Head over to the Ooft blog to check out some tracks from their new 'Forever in their Debt #5" comp. It's a bit good. Go and get a real one from Piccadilly.

Rollerskatin' Jams

My blog does just seem to be full of plugs at the moment, doesn't it? Oh well, so to not break with a current theme, me and Jon and Sapna (aka Shoplifters) have been asked to rock a Rollerskating disco party for Nokia - there's still tickets available, and best of all it's completely free. We're playing on Saturday between 6pm and 8pm. See you there.

MP3 De la Soul - A Rollerskatin' Jam called Saturday

MP3 The Rapture - Get Myself into it

Watch out.

If you're an aging punk rocker, and you need the press, but can't get it by being good, maybe you can hire the Indie Revenge Squad.

MP3 Leeds United and Ronnie Hilton - We Shall Not be Moved.

No age.

The internet seems to have calmed down about these guys now, which is something of a shame for them because 'Nouns' is one of my albums of the year so far. I guess that's what a positive Pitchfork review can do for you. Anyway, here's an album track that I really like, as it reminds me of the noisy stuff I listened to in my youth that my Mum and Dad REALLY HATED. Which reminds me: I need to get the latest copy of Mojo that has got a Sub Pop covermount. Ooooh, exciting. I'm loving the Grunge Revival.

MP3 No Age - Cappo

Dig for Victory!

As you all know, me and James from Yer Mam! are great mates, and we've played out together quite a bit of late. As we've been enjoying each others DJ company so much, we've decided to launch a little shindig at the Bay Horse on Thomas Street every last Sunday of the month. Expect to hear the sounds of the stuff we write about and post, and a few other bits too. Most of all, we'll make sure it's a nice way to get your Sunday lunch to settle.

MP3 Chemical Brothers - Dig your own hole

MP3 Friction - Dig it (Tyler Pope Remix)

MP3 Kanye West - Gold Digger (Feat. Jamie Foxx)

MP3 Demis Roussos - I Dig You (Todd Terje Housemix)

And here's an extra one, even though it doesn't fit the "dig" theme:

MP3 Lil Wayne - A Milli (Flying Lotus' Robo Tussin Remix)

Help Mel out.

Moby is running a competition on his site at the moment where you can vote for the Manchester venue you would most like to see him performing an acoustic set in. As you can imagine, it's fired the imagination of all the parties and venues involved, though on this occasion I'm giving my support to all at the Ruby Lounge, as Bar Manager Mel has got a poorly back. So please, give her a virtual back-rub and vote for the Ruby Lounge to win, and I'll see you there when the bald vegan plays.

MP3 Moby - I love to move in here (Holy Ghost! Remix)

PS - Check out the competition you can enter to see him DJ in Cloud 23 at Hilton Manchester. I quite fancy that if there's any PRs out there that want to get me in?

I just want you to know.

Today is day two of the inaugural Summer in the Park festival at Platt Fields in Manchester, and following on from my appearance with Yer Mam! yesterday, it's the turn of Shoplifters to rock the Odd tent from 8pm. Come down and buy us a glass of wine if you're in that neck of the woods.

I heard this on the Hits earlier, and while I don't watch the channel religiously, it's good to watch while the adverts are on other channels. Enjoy the tune anyway.

MP3 Snoop Dogg - Beautiful (Feat Pharrell and Uncle Charlie)

Summer in the Park

It's Summer in the Park this weekend at Platt Fields in Fallowfield, and it should prove to be a lovely two days of fine food and music if the weather holds. Me and James from Yer Mam! will be manning the decks between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday in the Odd Tent, and I'll be with Shoplifters in the same place from 8pm till 10 on Sunday. Rock on.

MP3 The Cock N' Bull Kid - On my Own

"... all the crowd face the stage."

I've never featured Scandi-balearic types Aeroplane before, which isn't to say I don't like them of course. So here they are. This has summer written all over it.

MP3 The Shortwave Set - Now til '69 (Aeroplane Remix)

Doing it better

The picture you're seeing above is the view from the room I stayed in on Thursday night. Let me explain. The company I work for have been in operation for 10 years, so as a special treat, they decided to take us all away to a fancy hotel in the country. There was some nice food, a games room, rolling countryside and a disco. All good.

I managed to acquire a rather decent hangover come yesterday morning, and all I really wanted was to listen to Glass Candy. It was bouncing round my head all the way home. Here's a couple of bits from the Italians Do it Better stable. Go and sit in the sun and enjoy them.

MP3 Rubies feat. Feist - I Feel Electric (Tiedye Remix)

MP3 Glass Candy - Rolling down the hills

Todays lesson.

It's gotta be said, the Beeb are really earning their license fee at the moment. Last week, we had some pretty great coverage of Glastonbury, with Jay-Z turning in a performance that simply has to be seen to be believed. And tonight, on BBC4, it's Nick Cave night and I've just watched an exclusive concert he performed for the station with the Bad Seeds. Make sure you check out the BBC iPlayer to catch up on these great performances if you haven't already.

RIP Electro (2005-2008)

Electro is dead. It passed away around 4pm today, when I discovered a Star Wars/Justice mashup. I nearly puked: It's that bad. It's always a key marker for a genre when someone produces a track with a Star Wars sample - it clearly means the genre is on it's way out, as there's no more material to splice. Fucking awful awful awful. If you really want to arrest your ears, head over here for a listen. When I add this to Cut Copy's miming last night, and the rumour that Justice are producing the new Chilis album, I can only summise that it's all over. Long live disco.
